Wellington The highlight of Wellington is certainly Te Papa Tongarewa, New Zealand's interactive national museam. Split over five floors the museam contains a huge array of exhibitions, each of which demonstrate a different aspect of New Zealand life, history or culture. Many of the exhibitions include interactive experiences, such as a virtual reality earthquake or bungy jump! We spend several hours exploring the various exhibitions, but only make it as far as level two! A tour of the town takes us past the parliament buildings, which include an unusual shaped building known locally as "The Beehive", and to the top of Mount Victoria where the views are excellent. Accommodation Sharella Motor Inn - located opposite the Botanic Gardens, this motel style accommodation is a little dated and run down. The rooms are reasonably clean, but it has a definite "fawlty towers" vibe about it! Not recommended. |
