Queenstown - Milford Sound
We make a very early start for Milford Sound, so early in fact that it is still dark outside! Our first stop off is at Te Anau for some morning tea. We travel into Fjordland National Park and through the famous Homer Tunnel. This three quarter mile tunnel through the mountains was created with nothing but picks and shovels, and took over five years to build. The views on the Milford side are astounding, as we wind our way through steep gorges and between walls of solid rock.
We stop off to see The Chasm, an unusual feat of natural erosion on the Cleddau River. We also make a photo stop at the Mirror Lakes.
