Lake Ohau - Christchurch

Tekapo Collie MonumentThe last day of our tour has dawned and we leave the picturesque Lake Ohau to return to Christchurch. We make a photo stop at Lake Pukaki, where we finally get some good pictures of the mountains being reflected in the clear waters. We then stop at Lake Tekapo for some lunch.

In Lake Tekapo, we visit a tiny church, which is very popular for weddings; and see a monument to the collie dog. The plaque on the monument reads:

This monument was erected by the runholders of the mackenzie county and those who also appreciate the value of the collie dog, without the help of which the grazing of this mountain country would be impossible.

Finally we cross the Canterbury Plains one last time before arriving in Christchurch.
