Nelson

Nelson claims to be the home of the best weather in New Zealand. There are a wide range of things to do here, but the Nelson Skydive proves most popular with our group. We aren't that adventurous though, and instead go on a wine-tasting tour.

We visit about six wineries on the tour, and sample everything from wines and champagnes to liqueurs and flavoured olive oils. Our tour guide is great fun and by the end of the day we are quite tipsy!

Nelson is also relatively close to Abel Tasman National Park, where sea kayaking and other water activities are on offer.

Accommodation

Aloha Lodge - set among beautiful gardens on the outskirts of Nelson this establishment is excellent. Rooms are spacious and fitted out with all the latest mod cons, and the buildings are maintained to a very high standard. Highly recommended.
