Milford Sound

The best way to see Milford Sound is on a cruise. The sound is actually a fjord (which is created by a glacier) not a sound (which is created by the sea). Our cruise takes us from the launch jetty all the way along the cliff enclosed corridor to where the sound meets the Tasman Sea.

Milford Cruise

The most spectacular thing to see is the huge number of waterfalls which stream down the sides of the sheer cliff faces. Only three or four of the waterfalls are permanent, but after a few days of rain there can be over a hundred. The shelted waters of Milford Sound are reported to be full of sea life, including seals, dolphins and penguins. Unfortunately we don't spot any dolphins or penguins but we do get a good look at some seals basking on the rocks.
