Auckland - Bay of Islands

The first day of our tour and we leave Auckland for the sub-tropical Bay of Islands. We leave the city via the Auckland Harbour Bridge, and our driver informs us that the bridge is often used by bungy jumpers! Only in New Zealand!

We stop off in a small town called Whangarei to buy some lunch and then we make a stop at the beautiful Whangarei Falls. We get a spectacular view of the falls - not at all bad for our first photo stop of the trip!

On the way back to Auckland a couple of days later we make a photo stop at Parry Kauri Park. A Kauri is a native New Zealand tree. The picture on the right is of a tree that is over eight hundred years old!
