How You Can HelpSome other ways you can help Animal Rescue Organisations
Offer your free time, even an hour a week helping to walk dogs will be greatly appreciated by any rescue organisation. If possible, offer to foster rescue animals, particularly for those organisations which do not have any premises and are forced to pay to keep their rescues in kennels/catteries. Volunteer to participate in any fundraising events. Many organisations look for volunteers to take part in sponsored marathons, flag days etc. If you are a good organiser, offer to organise fundraising events in your local area on their behalf. Tell as many people as you can about the rescue organisation and the work they do, and encourage others to support them. Switch your credit card over to their special credit card if they offer one. Advise family and friends to do the same. Attend and support their fundraising events. Bring some friends with you. Tell as many friends and neighbours about the event as you can, and encourage them to support it too. Next time you are having a house spring clean or clear-out, keep any items which are in a resalable condition and donate them - they can be sold or raffled at fundraisers. Collect any free items that you get through special offers and promotions in shops and donate these if you will not use them yourself. For example, a number of shops often give out holiday or other vouchers when you spend a certain amount - these could be used as raffle prizes. Also most film processing companies offer free films for each film processed - these would be very useful for taking pictures of animals to be rehomed. Many organisations appeal for donations of specific items such as pet food, toys, and other equipment, also computer equipment and supplies. If you are the owner or manager of a business you may be able to help by offering to sponsor a fundraising event (e.g. by donating raffle prizes), or offering free or reduced rate services (e.g. if you own a printing services business).
